Torch-Bearer of the Open Format
“What’s open format?” Click above to hear me spin on Kenny Perez‘s “In the Mix” show for 88Nine Radio Milwaukee. Music is more exciting when we ramble all over the place! Admittedly, you can narrow it down, as Fuzzy Logic used to do with Sirius Booty. These were all-vinyl boogie nights he hosted with Bittercube Bar & Bazaar‘s Brandon Brazil Reyes. Diving deeply into the Dayton funk scene, as they did, was a blast! And certainly, learning to spin on vinyl gave his mixes an old-school feel you can hear to this day. This is especially true when he spins at Disco Mondays at Strange Town. Some DJs jump from track to track every 30 seconds. Fuzzy Logic prefers to do long blends that “let the tracks breathe” and let dancers settle into the groove.
At the same time, as a frequent guest at Sound Travels at Nomad World Pub on Brady, he spun with heads like JDL Lacefield, Marcus Doucette, and Avets. He learned to practice the craft of open format DJing, blending global tracks with Western ones, blending new and old. Long blends, open format…it makes for fun parties! Lover of Carnival Culture

Carnival allows all sorts of cultures to mix, tracing back to Congo Square in New Orleans. There, slaves were permitted to play African-style instruments, other cultures came to listen and play, and the resulting musical Big Bang created the US music scene as we know it. Consequently, you can count on him to be friendly and flexible with requests. In a wedding DJ’s hands, this can sound like an awkward playlist. But Fuzzy Logic uses his twelve years of club experience to make your people move!

Music and fashion have gone together since…ancient Egypt. at least! Fuzzy Logic collaborates on vintage shows with Maggie and Sheila at Plume, Jessica and Ryan at Dandy, and Kaley at Amity Loft. Their fashion shows, gatherings, and Flight Nights in warm weather are highly recommended!
Purveyor of Yacht Rock
We all love the funny TV show, and we all appreciate the miracle that is John Oates’s moustache. DJ Fuzzy Logic and Hot ShYachts host Shelter at Sea on the 24/7 radio source for smooth, Yacht Rock Miami! Previously, he hosted The Yacht Club soft-rock weekly at Fink’s. He relishes the opportunity to throw in blue-eyed soul. Ned Doheny, Michael Franks, Michael McDonald, and other Southern California blue-eyed soul artists appear regularly. And of course, he rocks the appropriate threads, courtesy of the ladies mentioned above!
Spiritual Practitioner
Additionally, DJ Fuzzy Logic draws influence from many spiritual traditions, including liberation theology. He is an enthusiastic, evolving practitioner of vipassana meditation, among other contemplative practices. Social work with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Houston, TX, teaching English at Our Lady of Guadalupe School, continues to inspire him. He is conscious of his privilege, and strives to learn from historically marginalized groups. Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet. William Johnston’s Lord, Teach us to Pray. Robert Thurman’s The Jewel Tree of Tibet. All these and more changed his life. He regularly uses guided meditations from Tara Brach, Stephan Pende Wormland, and others.
Animal Lover
DJ Fuzzy Logic currently lives with chinchilla Rico Suave. He is the former roommate of Margarita Lauchita Chinchilla, as well as the craft ferrets Jim Jadwisiak and Mathilda Napierala. Interspecies relationships and mutualism are finally, happily getting the attention they deserve!
Locavore and Cook
DJ Fuzzy Logic tries to fight waste and climate change–imperfectly. We can quibble about the details, but in general, cooking locally-based, mostly vegetarian food at home helps reduce our carbon footprint and conserves water. Doing so also, of course, benefits our four-legged friends and avoids the abuses of factory farming. He particularly recommends The Tassajara Cookbook, using community-supported agriculture such as Springdale Farm, There are no easy answers, but we can all do more. If you’re nice, he’ll cook you some serrano garlic cheese grits!
Music, Physics, and Love
Finally, astrophysicists’ string theory argues that at the core, dancers, DJs, and the universe itself are music. DJ Fuzzy Logic is an English professor. As much as he respects the power of words, he knows that there is power in sharing movement and vibration.
