DJing for Kool Keith
Fuzzy Logic DJ’d for Kool Keith in Milwaukee! Unfortunately, shortly after playing with the Black Elvis himself at Riverwest Public House, the boys in blue…ahem, visited. Nevertheless, it was the best 4-minute set, ever! On second thought, maybe not the best. In fact, it was a bummer. We were all salty. Still, give us credit for optimism! It gives us an excuse to discuss Milwaukee hip hop.
Of course, if you don’t know who Kool Keith is, where you been? He’s a veteran of the seminal Ultramagnetic MC’s and Dr. Octagon. Moreover, he’s a solo artist in his own right. Clearly, he’s one of the most surreal MCs out there. “Now my helmet’s on–you can’t tell me I’m not in space!”

The Kool Keith interview
More Milwaukee hip hop
There’s more than Kool Keith in Milwaukee, of course! Fortunately, Fuzzy Logic also had the pleasure of opening for AUTOMatic at Bay View’s classic Cactus Club. AUTOMatic put on a dope show, supplying conscious lyrics without sacrificing the head nods. Look for their vinyl release on Milwaukee’s outstanding Dope Folks Records label! It’s sold out, so you’ll have to scour the best record stores! Fuzzy Logic recommends the used sections of We Buy Records in Riverwest or Luv Unlimited in Bay View.
Even better, Logic & Raze were headlining that Cactus Club show! Killer set. Their candle burned briefly, but brightly!
Also at that show: DJ JDL Lacefield. He isn’t active on the internet, but trust me: you should check out his remix work. More importantly, you can check out his live old school hip hop sets! Find him on Fridays with DMT and Bizzon at Highbury Pub. He’s a huge influence, and he was kind enough to let Fuzzy Logic watch him like a hawk.
Finally, the homie DJ Optimist of Elechronic was spinning that night. He got me that show as well as one of my first gigs ever! House music is his first love.
